Sick. So Sick.

I usually get sick a few times a year and it’s usually my fault. I try and be careful by washing my hands, sanitizing my cubical on an almost daily basis and I eat healthy.  However, sometimes getting sick is unavoidable and currently I’m working from home so I don’t spread my germs to my coworkers. I have a “viral chest infection.”

Shayne is also sick.

Together, we are sexy.

We both sit in almost silence because his throat hurts and when I talk it makes me cough.

This is how I feel (me being the dude):

This is how I wish I felt:

I cannot wait to feel better and enjoy the last drops of summer. COUGH COUGH!

Slow Food Cycle Sunday

20130822-150246.jpg

What is the furthest distance that you have biked? Mine is, as of Sunday, about 30 km.  Once a year you can go on a farm crawl (like a pub crawl) on your bike. If you do the whole route (there and back) it’s about 50 km. I accomplished the ride with friends by my side and now have some organic potatoes from Ice Cap Organics. YUM! Will you join me next yet for the Slow Food Cycle?

I’m a Cheater

I don’t cheat on my man but I sure as heck cheat on my diet. Over a month ago I decided to cut out wheat and dairy. I had a disgusting addiction to cheese and I was feeling blah. I’m talking eating a while package of cheese strings…..Yah, gross, I know!

So, I cut ’em out and I feel great. However, temptation is all around me. I don’t find it hard to cut out the wheat and dairy unless I’m craving sushi or it’s someones birthday. I have decided that if I behave and temptation crosses my path (for good reason) I can have a little taste.  That isn’t so bad, right? I mean, I have hardly had cheese and that IS A HUGE DEAL! Oh yah, I have also cut out coffee (but I have it when I NEED it). What are your trips for staying on track?? Please help!

Here are some tools that help me survive:

I do have to modify a lot of the recipes but that's easy.

Why I’m In Love With My Birthday!

August 8th. My birthday.

This is a day that I love. Most people don’t “love” their birthdays or even celebrate them.

During elementary school Mrs. Maltz (our principal) would announce everyones birthday, daily. Being a summer baby, I never got this luxury and it always hurt my feelings. Growing up I got to celebrate my birthday at the most magical place on Earth: BB Camp. I was surrounded by close friends and nature. It was magical.

So, my birthday parties were usually in June or September, when everyone was back in school. This wasn’t my real  birthday so I wasn’t super stoked.

As I got older, my birthday was an excuse for everyone to get together, catchup and have a good time (in the summer). It allows for celebration and an annual catchup.  August 8th isn’t a day to celebrate my birth but a reason to have a good time.  Oh, I also love presents.

Today, I am 28. 365 days until my next birthday!

Good job Sharon and Leonard.
